Hilary Duff, full name Hilary Erhard Duff, was born on 28th September, 1987, in Houston, Texas. She and her older sister Haylie Duff toured with the Cechetti Ballet when she was only 6 years of age. But she always wanted to take acting and singing as her career. With Haylie, she made her first television appearance in the mini-series True Women (1997). In 1998, she acted as Wendy in Casper meets Wendy and in 1999 she received the Young Artist Award for the movie The Soul Collector in a supporting role.

In 2001, she played the role of the famous Lizzie McGuire. The Disney Channel show became very popular among the youth audience. Two yea rs later, she topped the Billboard with her debut pop album Metamorphosis (2003). The same year she was signed for The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003) which budgeted over a million dollar, and featured in Agent Cody Banks and Cheaper by the Dozen.
After the success of Lizzie McGuire, she starred in A Cinderella Story and the drama Raise Your Voice in 2004. On that September, she released her self-titled album which opened on the 2nd spot on the Billboard. However, the sales were a bit dull as compared to her first album. She also took the job of international spokesperson for Kids With A Cause that year.

In 2005, she played Lorraine Baker in Cheaper By The Dozen and also appeared in The Perfect Man, co-starring with Heather Locklear. Hilary released a compilation album that year in August, named Most Wanted, featuring previous hits and 3 new tracks. The album clung to the top of Billboard for a fortnight. In 2006, she reunited with Haylie and produced the feature Material Girls.
